More then a decade ago maple bats were hardly in use and many players didn’t even think to use them. It wasn’t until Barry Bond used a maple bat and earned for himself a record breaking season. Now more than 50% of the players are ditching the traditional bats and switching to maple bats.

Kobe Bryant scored an amazing 17 points out of the 39 points all in the fourth quarter. The Lakers left from an early 17 point deficit to beat the current and defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs at 100-92 Thursday night. This helped them to win the conference finals in a mere five games.

Boston Red Sox teammates were lining up to congratulate Jon Lester on his no-hitter during the game against the Kansas City Royals’. The game ended in a 7-0 victory. The 24 year old played a great game on Monday. He threw his final pitch across the plate at 96 mph – which was the hardest he had thrown the entire game.

Candace Parker Shows Potential In WNBA Debut

Candace Parker has scored 34 points - which is the most that any player has done in their WNBA debut proving that she has what it takes. She also was able to add 12 rebounds that helped the Los Angeles Sparks to beat the Phoenix Mercury 99-94.

Cynthia Cooper held the previous spot for the most point in the WNBA debut with 25 points back in 1997.

Charles Barkley Says He’ll Pay $400,000 Gambling Debt

Charles Barkley has confessed that he has a gambling debt of $400,000 due to all of the gambling that he has done on the Las Vegas Strip. The NBA star now has a choice to either pay it in full or face serious criminal charges. “My mistake,” Barkley said in an interview at a pro-am golf tournament in Hoover, Ala. “I’m not broke, and I’m going to take care of it.”

Professional Tennis Player Justine Henin To Retire

At 25 years old Justine Henin has been ranked as the best player in the world. Yet, recently she has been showing serious signs of fatigue and her game has been off. This is the reason for her quitting professional tennis.

This year alone she has lost to Maria Sharapova, Francesca Schiavone, and Serena Williams. On top of this she was pulled out of the Berlin Open during the third round and she dropped out of the Italian Open this week.

Chris Leben Replaced For Next UFC Showdown

UFC announced this week that they will be replacing Chris Leben with Jason Day for the June 7th event at the 02 Arena in London. Leben was scheduled to fight Michael Bisping – but was told that he will not be released from the Clackamas County jail until May 27th. This does not leave him enough time to get into shape for the fight.
