The Yankees are known for beating the competition and staying ahead in the game. This year seems to be different for them and their owner is getting angry and Joe Torre, the manager, is afraid of being out of a job.

White Sox Picks Up Pace After Rough Start

As Mark Buehrle and Paul Konerko go, so go the White Sox. That has been an upheld theory since about 2004, maybe longer, and there’s no reason to abandon it now. That’s why Buehrle’s return to form, evidenced loudly by the no-hitter he threw Wednesday night against the Texas Rangers, is a tremendous development for the Sox. It fits nicely in the encouraging picture for a starting rotation that was folded during the second half of 2006, spindled in spring training and mutilated on Opening Day.

Florida Marlins May Not Get New Stadium

The plans that were made for a $500 million baseball stadium for the Florida Marlins in downtown Miami was thrown a sharp curve Tuesday as Miami-Dade County commissioners decided to put the Orange Bowl back in play. Led by Commissioner Joe Martinez, the panel argued at a proposal that was being pushed by Mayor Carlos Alvarez and County Manager George Burgess to build a stadium on 9 acres of government-owned land on Northwest Third Street.
