People all over the United States are outraged by the fact that Beck Hammon – the WNBA point guard – has decided to play on the CSKA Russian team during the summer Olympics. She was able to fast track her citizenship to Russia and she signed a 4 year contract with the team for $2 million.

The Boston Celtics seem to be living up to the legacy of the NBA-record of the 16 championship teams that have gone before them. They won against their rivals – the L.A. Lakers in a 98-88 win. The home team used a destructive defense to frustrate Kobe Bryant.

Kobe Bryant stands at 6 feet 7 inches and has been called by many the best and most talented basketball player in the entire world. NBA has even dubbed him as their MVP. Throughout this year he has averaged 6.1 rebounds, 31.9 points, and 5.8 assists and has played in 15 NBA playoff games. Many believe that he is nearly unstoppable - but others are still not quite convinced.

Kobe Bryant scored an amazing 17 points out of the 39 points all in the fourth quarter. The Lakers left from an early 17 point deficit to beat the current and defending NBA champion San Antonio Spurs at 100-92 Thursday night. This helped them to win the conference finals in a mere five games.

Candace Parker has scored 34 points - which is the most that any player has done in their WNBA debut proving that she has what it takes. She also was able to add 12 rebounds that helped the Los Angeles Sparks to beat the Phoenix Mercury 99-94.
Cynthia Cooper held the previous spot for the most point in the WNBA debut with 25 points back in 1997.

Charles Barkley has confessed that he has a gambling debt of $400,000 due to all of the gambling that he has done on the Las Vegas Strip. The NBA star now has a choice to either pay it in full or face serious criminal charges. “My mistake,” Barkley said in an interview at a pro-am golf tournament in Hoover, Ala. “I’m not broke, and I’m going to take care of it.”

Michael Avery is from Lake Sherwood, California who stands a good 6 foot 4 inches from the ground. His dream of playing college basketball has finally come true. He has been asked to play for the Cats. The only problem is that this offer has come a good 4-6 years too early as he is still in the 8th grade!

Carmelo Anthony – the star forward for the Denver Nuggets – was arrested on Monday for an alleged DUI (driving under the influence). The Denver police reported that at four in the morning Anthony was driving south on I-25 when he was pulled over and detained.

Greg Oden is still in the middle of his six month rehabilitation due to a microfracture surgery on his right knee. Oden has been instructed to not play any practice games till he has completely healed and completed his time in rehab. Rumor has it that he has not been listening to his doctor and was caught playing a game of hoops at a 24 Hour Fitness facility.

LeBron James and Gisele Bundchen graced Vogue’s April issue which received more than just a few questions from readers. Like why LeBron is the first black man to be on their cover and why they haven’t used one before? Others have asked why they are stereotyping using LeBron. They claim that the photo is racial stereotypical because of the way that LeBron is posing.
