Michelle Wie Makes Waves By Skipping Major

Michelle Wie has skipped a major in order to play on the PGA Tour that is taking place this week. Other players who are questioning this choice are Paula Creamer, Helen Alredsson, and Annika Sorenstam. Wie has not yet been able to win on any of the women’s tour and has never before made it to the PGA Tour.

Tiger Woods Putts Great Despite Injury

Tiger Woods was afraid that his injured left knee would keep him from finishing the long 72 holes that make up the U.S. Open. However, he was able to get a chance to finish 18 more at the famous Torrey Pines course.
Woods holed a 12-foot birdie putt that curled into the right side of the cup on the 18th hole – which forced a playoff with Rocco Mediate. Mediate, trying to become the oldest champion at age 45, two-putted for par from above the ridge for an even-par 71 to finish at 1-under 283, the first time since 2004 that someone broke par in a U.S. Open.

Romo, Timberlake, And Lauer Try To Prove Tiger Woods Wrong

Tony Romo (quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys) and singer Justin Timberlake may not be the best golfers on the track and right now would not be able to play in the U.S. Open – but they did prove that they could at least break 100 while playing on the Torrey Pines’ South Course.

The two played alongside the ‘Today’ host Matt Lauer and an average guy from Omaha, Nebraska. The four of them were trying to prove Tiger Woods wrong when he said that only a pro can beat the course.

Tiger Woods Win Championship By Slim Victory

It seemed that Tiger Woods would be defeated at the Accenture Match Play Championship – but with a bit of strategy and his excellent game playing he was able to win by a slim victory. With only five holes left he was 3-down against American player J.B. Holmes. He chose to stick to his short game over the last four holes – which helped him to pull ahead.

About 5,000 fans cheered Woods, the world’s top-ranked golfer, and Jordan, a five-time Most Valuable Player in the National Basketball Association, as they began their round at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Tom Watson Becomes One Of The Early Leaders At Golf Masters Tournament

Two-time champion Tom Watson is among three players that is tied for the lead early in the first round of the 71st Masters Tournament. Watson, 57, is 1-under-par through six holes at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. He shares the lead with Arron Oberholser and J.J. Henry, who are the only other players under par.

‘Flying Finn’ Wins Special Victory

Mikko Ilonen fired a closing-round 70 to claim his victory in the weather-interrupted Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open, becoming the first Finn to win on the European Tour. The 27-year-old carded a nine-under-par 275 total at Damai Indah Golf and Country Club to finish one stroke ahead of the second-placed trio of Frankie Minoza of the Philippines (71), Shiv Kapur of India (67) and Andrew Tampion of Australia (69).
