44 year old Ken Shamrock will be the next opponent for the acclaimed street fighter - Kimbo Slice. Their fight will be the main event and will be aired on CBS on October 4th. Kimbo Slice has quickly become a popular fighter after many of his street fights as well as MMA fights have been aired and viewed on YouTube.

The United States softball team lost for the first time since 2000 by Japan’s team. They lost by 3-1 in the Olympics and lost their chance to secure the gold medal. The U.S. team did not manage to lead at all during the game and made two fatal errors that took them down during the seventh inning.

The synchronized swimmers for Spain have been banned from wearing the swimsuits that have been embedded with waterproof lights. They had hoped to add more dazzling effects to the show to enhance their routine during the Olympics.
“It got very sophisticated because obviously the battery doesn’t last long and then we had to look at circuits and interrupters, so we have been working on it around two months with a crack team,” swimmer Andrea Fuentes said.

Shawn Johnson has had no problems this week when it comes to her age or the judges. She is putting on a happy face for the world - but inside she is frustrated at her bad fortune of not winning a gold medal. However, Tuesday was a new day for her because it was her last chance to win the medal.

Michael Phelps is on a role to winning as many gold medals as he can during this years Olympics. He has been dubbed the USA’s star swimmer and has won two more gold medals - which now brings his total to 11.

The Olympics are all about proving to yourself, your family, and your country that you have what it takes to win the gold. In the different sports the athletes will do all they can to make it to the finish line first despite the odds against them. Lezak felt that the odds were against him as he saw his competitor - Alain Bernard from France - make his flip before him. He began to understand that he was at least a half a body length ahead with 50 meters to go.

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is the former champion for the light heavyweight division in the UFC. On July 15th he was arrested in Costa Mesa, California for a hit and run, reckless driving, and evading the police. The cops were forced to chase Jackson by car until he stopped.
“I’m not allowed to say everything,” Jackson told interviewers on Thursday in his first interview since the arrest. “I was hurt by some personal problems I had. It caused me not to eat and not to sleep. Emotional, yeah.”

Gary Russell Jr. was the United States’ best chance to grab hold of the gold medal in boxing. Things were looking good for him until he collapsed while he was trying to make his goal weight in Beijing today. His teammate Luis Yanez found Russell after he was trying to shed off two pounds to reach the weight limit of 119 pounds.

Morgan Hamm was forced to join his twin brother in dropping out of the Beijing Olympics only two days before they were to take place. He was upset to have to back out - but he managed to aggravate a chronic injury in his left ankle while training and it was the only choice he had.

Joey Cheek is an Olympic gold medalist and is known for being a Darfur activist. This week he was informed that his visa would be revoked by the Chinese embassy. He was given the news only hours before he was going to be flying out to China.
