Chris Leben Replaced For Next UFC Showdown
UFC announced this week that they will be replacing Chris Leben with Jason Day for the June 7th event at the 02 Arena in London. Leben was scheduled to fight Michael Bisping – but was told that he will not be released from the Clackamas County jail until May 27th. This does not leave him enough time to get into shape for the fight.
A judge sentenced Leben to 35 days in jail due to a probation violation. This violation was for a DUI conviction back in 2005. The UFC stated that they were not aware of the charges against Leben and said that either way he would have been unable to fight because he would not have been allowed to obtain a visa to travel outside the country.
Leben turned himself into the police after he was made aware of the outstanding warrant against him. He had hoped that he would get out in enough time to train.
