De La Hoya’s Professional Farewell Event To Los Angeles
At a sold out Home Depot Center, De La Hoya has an over whelming victory against Steve Forbes, as part of a professional farewell to the Los Angeles area. This was an over whelming victory indeed with one judge scoring all twelve rounds to De La Hoya, and the other two judges scoring eleven out of twelve rounds to De La Hoya.
Hoya Vs. Mayweather
Oscar De La Hoya fought in a workmanlike manner, in a very professional way. Like a man with a goal. But De La Hoya didn’t show anyone looking to see if he had improved to the level needed compete against Mayweather, considered to be the world’s top boxer. In this fight with Forbes, De La Hoya fought straight up and used his jab much more. He believes this change in his game will work better against Mayweather.
Hoya Vs. Forbes
Oscar being the stronger faster fighter compared to Forbes. Forbes has an iron jaw and it showed in this fight. Oscar blitzed Forbes with many hard shots, but this didn’t keep Forbes from finishing the fight on his feet just like he has in all of his pro fights.
Forbes was being maneuvered around the ring by De La Hoya’s shots. Forbes entered this fight with just nine knockouts under his belt of his thirty eight fights, he didn’t have the “oomph” needed to put a bigger fighter on the defensive.
