Roger Clemens Denies Use Of Steroids

Roger Clemens is finally speaking out about the tabloid – which connected him to certain extramarital affairs as well as information that could potentially ruin his career. He did admit that he has made mistakes in his personal life concerning his wife – but he denied any claims against him that stated he had ever used human growth hormones or steroids.

”I know that many people want to know what I have to say about the recent articles in the media,” Clemens, who has raised his four children with his wife, Debbie, in the Katy and Memorial areas, said in a statement to the Chronicle. ”Even though these articles contain many false accusations and mistakes, I need to say that I have made mistakes in my personal life for which I am sorry. I have apologized to my family and apologize to my fans. Like everyone, I have flaws. I have sometimes made choices which have not been right.”

Clemens did not actually admit to anything in specific – but he did make sure that he made it clear to everyone that he did not use steroids. Since December 13th he has been trying everything he can to clear his name after he was accused of using performance-enhancing drugs in the report that was filed by Sen. George Mitchell.

”I believe my personal life has nothing to do with the accusations of steroid and HGH use,” he said in the statement. ”I have already made clear that I did not use them. I realize that many people want me to simply confess and apologize for the conduct that I have been accused of, but I cannot confess to, nor apologize for, things I did not do,” he said. ”I have apologized to my family for my mistakes. And having offered this apology to the public, I would ask that you let me and my family deal with these matters in private.”

Yet, Clemens is having a difficult time trying to clear his name due to the statements of others that contradict him. Brian McNamee – Clemens’ former trainer – told investigators that he injected Clemens with performance-enhancing drugs. Clemens has filed a defamation lawsuit against McNamee over this statement. He will be pleading his innocence before the House Oversight and Government Reform committee held in Washington D.C.
