Superbowl XLI

Superbowl XLI was one of the biggest this year. It was full of anticipation between both sides of the crowd, wondering who was going to take home the victory this year. It was a tight game and won that kept you in mystery wondering who was going to come out on top.

At first an all-day rain seemed to favor the Bears, but Peyton Manning, Tony Dungy and the Colts would not be denied thier fun. Manning earned his MVP honors with 247 passing yards and a touchdown, and Indianapolis won Super Bowl XLI with a 29-17 victory against the Chicago Bears.

Dungy became the first African-American coach to win a Super Bowl title. The Colts seemed to be in trouble right away when Devin Hester ran back the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown and Manning was picked off on his first drive. After Reggie Wayne and Muhsin Muhammad traded touchdowns, the Bears led 14-6. Then the Colts took control. They moved the ball well on five consecutive possessions and built a 22-14 lead.

The Bears crept within 22-17 in the fourth quarter and had the ball at their own 38, but little-known second-year cornerback Kelvin Hayden intercepted a Rex Grossman pass and ran it back 56 yards for a clinching touchdown. Despite three turnovers of their own, the Colts outgained the Bears 430-265 and held the ball for 38:04. The Colts won their first NFL title since representing Baltimore in Super Bowl V.
