Will Lennox Lewis Make A Comeback?

There are rumors flying around that Lennox Lewis is preparing to come out of his retirement. However, it seems that senior boxing figures are keeping their mouths shut and are avoiding the subject. Bob Arum, the promoter, stated that Lennox, now 41, is training again and talking with Vitali Klitschko. Lennox defeated Vitali in 2003 in his last fight before his retirement.

It seems though that these reports are not completely confirmed when, HBO senior vice-president Kerry Davis said: “I can completely deny that any talks have taken place. Lennox has never said anything to myself or (HBO Sports president) Ross Greenberg about wanting to come back.”

Vitali is ready to come back into the ring after recovering from a harsh knee injury. He will be going up against WBC champion Oleg Maskaev for an immediate title shot. Bob Arum said: “Lennox has been discussing the prospect of a one-off, world title rematch with Vitali Klitschko.

“I am told Lennox is back in the gym. This is an enormous fight in the making.” Frank Warren apparently doesn’t agree that Lennox should make a comeback and is trying to talk Lennox out of this. He added: “I don’t think Lennox should come back. He has gone out on a high, he is very wealthy, and boxing is full of stories of guys who have made a comeback and ruined their legacy.”
